Marnée Richardson is a versatile singer-songwriter and performer from Xenia, Ohio. She has been singing her entire life and finds joy in singing multiple genres including pop, funk, jazz, classical, rock, soul, blues, and more.
Marnée studied musical theater at The American Musical and Dramatics Academy and graduated with a certificate in performance. While at AMDA she grew as an all-around performer studying classical music, dance such as tap, jazz, ballet, theater dance, and honed in on her acting skills.
She took the skills acquired in New York and used them to continue her studies in music at Capital University in Columbus, Ohio. During her time at Capital, Marnée performed with The C.U.R.E. (Capital University Rock Ensemble) where her stage presence and technique with popular music grew.
She also studied and sang jazz and classical while at Capital. She graduated in 2013 with a double major in Music and Public Relations.
In Columbus, Marnée was heavily involved in the music scene. She sang with numerous bands and on many recording projects. One project became her own, The Pleasant Tense.
Her most notable achievement with The Pleasant Tense was opening for Phantogram, Magic Man, Morning Parade, and Jagwar Ma for CD102.5 Day in 2014.
Recent achievements for Marnée include winning a contest to sing with the Columbus Gay Men’s Chorus for their production of Big Gay Sings Broadway, releasing her second EP with The Pleasant Tense, and starting her own solo ukulele project.
In 2016, Marnée and The Pleasant Tense have relocated to Nashville, TN. They have released a full-length album titled, I Haven't Been Feeling Like Myself As of Lately, and are working on the production of their second album while writing their third!
